JEWISH PEACE ACTIVIST: "THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT DOES EVERYTHING IT CAN TO SILENCE US."
📹 Jewish German peace activist, Udi Raz, based in Berlin, accuses the German government of suppressing peace protests against the Israeli occupation's genocide in Gaza.
According to Raz, the German authorities continue to suppress the Palestine solidarity movement, accusing the German authorities of doing all it can to silence protesters.
The activist slams the Israeli occupation, which publicly accuses the pro-Palestine peace movement of antisemitism, while at the same time, the Zionist occupation declares its ability to speak for all Jews around the world.
"Israel cannot speak in the name of Jews," Raz tells Anadolu News Agency. "Whoever claims otherwise, to my understanding, this is an antisemitic claim."
"Jews are diverse. Jews live in diverse and different geopolitical contexts and national contexts," the Jewish peace activist continues.
"We Jews who live here in Germany, of course, we care about other Jews who live elsewhere, but it does not mean that we are ambassadors of a racist state called the state of Israel," Raz added.

I did a thing!
Or more accurately, a whole bunch of cool-ass, courageous Jewish organizers did a thing and I helped take photos!
IfNotNow Boston shut down BU Bridge for 2 hours - because that’s what you do when your Senator won’t meet with you!
It was an incredibly powerful action. We sang, heard some moving speeches, blew the shofar, and said the Mourner’s Kaddish for the Israeli civilians killed and Palestinians murdered in the ongoing Nakba.
Btw calling anti-Zionist Jews “fake Jews” is fucking laughable. Like people are going to learn the Mourners Kaddish, cite Torah deep cuts and wear tefillin as an elaborate psy-op.

As i light my menorah for channukah, 1,700 years after the events of a great army devastating our most holy sites and trying to genocide us, I am thinking about my Palestinian cousins. I am surrounded in my living room by my proudly displayed Palestinian flag, bedouin cloth, tiles, and keffiyeh. I didn't realise just how much Palestinian stuff was in my house until people started making a big deal about a Jew supporting Palestinian liberation in October... I hope that in 1,700 years from now the Palestinian people will be celebrating their own version of Channukah, celebrating surviving the devastation of an army wanting nothing more than to see them wiped out. I hope that in that time Palestinians like my friends, cousins, nephew, students, and son no longer have compounded PTSD from the act of *checks notes* being born in Palestine. I don't understand a single person that can be celebrating Channukah while looking at Palestine, and is able to tell themselves that the occupation and slaughters is justified.
Here's to a free Palestine, I hope to one day celebrate pesach in al Quds with my family but until the occupation stops that will not happen.

When people in Queers for Palestine say things like "I know I wouldn't have rights in Palestine but my activism is not transactional" I lose it because nobody is bringing up the fact gay men get thrown of roofs because of "transactionality", we are saying it because you are actively harming the LGBT community. You actively go against your gay brothers and sisters in the Middle East when you cheer on Hamas or want to see the only gay-friendly country there abolished. You are hurting your own community because you love your community less than you hate (((Israel))). Get your head out of your asses and realize people telling you about the LGBT killings in Palestine is so you can stop hurting the Palestinians you "care so much about".

I'm feeling very alienated from people around me because of my refusal to participate in antisemitism, and I'm not even Jewish, so I can't IMAGINE how so many of you are feeling out there. I almost feel silly for feeling alienated about it. It's causing some real reflections when it comes to how I view myself politically. It's like here I am thinking, "No, we're against ALL oppression, right guys? .... right, guys?" 🦗🦗🦗 And it sucks knowing that a. the alienation I'm describing pales in comparison to what Jewish people might be feeling and b. that it probably isn't even that surprising to you all. Antisemitism is so perennial, cyclical, it insists on coming back again and again, rooting itself in places where people otherwise wouldn't expect it. It's Samsaric.
I almost feel like I'm being gaslight- "I'm not antisemitic, I'm just saying that Jews are harvesting the blood and organs of children!"
Like, bro, what else would that be? If blood libel isn't antisemitism, what counts as antisemitism?
This post is probably a bit jumbled, but I hope you're all doing well. ❤️

If even acknowledging antisemitism within your community spaces is going to "distract from the cause," maybe that's because the foundation of your beliefs comes down to antisemitism. What you're doing is telling on yourself.
#jumblr#jewish politics#personal thoughts tag#yes if you're in the group chat this is a vague post but seeing that (what i complained about) made me realize this#maybe it wasn't all that bad then???#this has the same energy as people who say that acknowledging transphobia in feminist spaces is wrong#because obviously you can only focus on One Thing At A Time like we're in a video game! (sarcasm)#i promise you can be against bigotry of all kind and it won't take away from anything about your causes#like i'm a Believer In Feminism and i also focus on fixing transphobia within these spaces i am in! it's EASY!!!#it's easy because i see trans people as intrinsic human beings i'll give you that but it's still easy#women are not Missing Out on my activism because i am focused on more than one thing at a time

Jewish Voice for Peace, IfNotNow, and the Boston Workers Circle teamed up for a beautiful Chanukah for Ceasefire action in Boston on Dec. 16:
We blocked off the intersection in downtown Boston in the heart of the financial district, w the intersection where the Boston Massacre occurred, to demand an end to a far, far worse example of colonial violence. Behind us in most of these pictures is the Old State House.
Holding the intersection through rush hour - there was lots of honking, because Boston - but marshals handed out leaflets to every driver apologizing for inconvenience and explaining the reasons for the action, and if they wanted an end to such disruptions they could call our electeds and ask them to call for a ceasefire.
We heard from multiple faith leaders and publicly called out our supposedly progressive elected officials, lit the Chanukah candles for the final night, offered up prayers and love for Gaza and all Palestine.
I am pleased to report that after months of protests and calls, Senator Warren finally spoke out in favor of a ceasefire.

edit: turning off reblogs because some of the people that are reblogging are extremely fucking moronic. holy shit
#anti jk rowling#anti harry potter#1) she's not being removed because 'she spoke up about biological sex' she actively influences anti-trans policies#2) it's not misogynistic to remove her. the fact that she's a woman doesn't have ANYTHING to do with her removal#3) the people reblogging this in approval don't 'cry when an artist isn't credited' this isn't the same fucking thing.#this is as the article says (if you know how to read 🤭) the quickest solution to reduce her impact#this bitch doesn't just hurt trans people. it's clear in her books that she's a white supremacist and she's also antisemitic#and she said dumbledore is gay for clout. it's fucking obvious. stop defending this woman and get a life-#-or get involved on the side of trans people#or just generally drop the fucking series you read as a middle schooler. nostalgia isn't more important than the lives of trans/jewish ppl

Some positivity in the Palestine tag! The Ecuadorian interfaith pilgrimage for ceasefire in palestine gets over 100 participants, and media coverage! Palestina, escucha: tu lucha es nuestra lucha! translation of article: We do not want to be unphased in the face of this global situation that affects us all, including our country, said Monsignor Victor Corral before beginning the walk that called for peace for the Palestinian people.
The journey, in which people of various beliefs participated, started from the Lutheran Church in Quito, passed by the Israeli embassy and ended after 10.25 kilometers in Carolina park.
In front of the diplomatic headquarters in Tel Aviv, religious leaders lamented the pain of Palestinian fathers and mothers who lost their children, the destruction of the entire infrastructure of Gazan families, forced to migrate towards an uncertain future.
“Ecuador with Palestine” and “The children of Gaza are not a threat” were repeated over and over again by Muslims, Catholics, Protestants and representatives of social organizations who with flags and banners rejected the Zionist genocide. [translator's note: there were Jews as well there, but it is not mentioned in the article, though one is shown in photos]
The population of the Gaza Strip is exposed to horrendous and inhuman crimes caused by Israeli aggression, which caused the death of thousands of innocent people, denounced Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
According to official data, since the start of the war, in October 2023, more than 32 thousand people have died in the besieged coastal enclave and almost 75 thousand have been injured.
Social and political organizations in Ecuador have expressed their rejection of the support of President Daniel Noboa's government for Israel in the midst of the genocide against the people of Palestine and accuse the president and the chancellor, Gabriela Sommerfeld, of being "complicit in the genocide."

This is what happens when anti-Jewish radical leftists dominate western academia and historiography and antisemitic rhetoric repeated by the media.
You were biased to begin with. This isn't about Gaza or human rights. Where's your outrage for other ethnic minorities experiencing ACTUAL genocides? For women losing their right to self determination globally? For queers losing their lives globally? For children of any ethnicity killed for what?
It is and will always be about your hatred for Jews.

I think it depends on your community. My experience might be less common, but I haven’t experienced any repercussions for being an antizionist Jew so far (beyond Instagram censorship, getting listed on Canary Mission, and arguing with relatives I don’t see much anyhow). I was raised reform and passively Zionist, in that my Hebrew school didn’t have IDF come talk to us but we certainly learned a VERY whitewashed version of “Israeli history”.
My family is pretty secular, but my mom’s time on a kibbutz in the 70s meant a lot to her. She was Zionist but she has too much idealism and empathy to not see that what gave her joy and belonging was built on the misery of others. It’s fortunate that she was already very aware of the dispossession and genocide of the peoples of Turtle Island. The more I taught her about Palestine, the more she saw the parallels. I don’t think she’d call herself antizionist now, and she’s too non-confrontational to become an activist, but she and my dad donated to the Middle East Childrens Alliance. It’s huge progress for a couple of boomers!
That Jewish person who sent me the ask, questioning their identity had me thinking a lot: are anti-Zionist Jews that scarce? Is Zionism really all that entrenched in various communities, institutions and congregations? Is it such a normalized political idea that being anti-Zionist is considered a contradiction of your Jewish identity?

IMAGE DESCRIPTION ADDED. REBLOG THIS VERSION AND THANK YOU @lab-labrava FOR WRITING IT!
ID: An infographic from the Instagram account @letstalkpalestine consisting of 10 slides. Image 1: The title page of the infographic. The text says: "Let's talk Anti-Zionist Jewish History." A smaller subtitle underneath the title says: "Jewish solidarity with Palestine until today." End ID.
Image 2: The infographic continues to the next panel. The text says, "As long as Zionism has existed, so has Jewish resistance to it. While today the majority of Jewish people and communities worldwide still have a Zionist connection, more and more Jewish people, especially from the younger generation, are unlearning Zionism & speaking out. Swipe to learn more about just part of anti-Zionist Jewish history - since there's more than we can fit in 10 slides." A semi-transparent image is overlayed in the background, of someone holding up a sign that reads: Jews for Palestine! #Free Sheik Jarrah. End ID.
Image 3: Icon of a location tag next to the words Eastern Europe. In large, blue text is the word "The Bund" and the subtitle describing what it is, "A Jewish Socialist movement, established in 1987." The following paragraph says, "Opposing Zionism from the start, its 50-year tenure saw hundred of thousands of members across Eastern Europe advocate for workers' rights and cultivate a Yiddish culture." Location tag and the title, "North America." The paragraph says, "After mass immigration to the US in the early 20th century, [American Jewish Labor groups] (highlighted in chalky blue and bold white text) criticized Zionism for its colonial, nationalist, and bourgeois nature." Next to this text, is a circle with women protestors holding up signs. End ID.
Image 4: The title, "Middle East and North Africa." The paragraph states, "In 1945 a group of Iraqi Jews founded the Anti-Zionist League. They recognized Zionism as a form of colonialism linked to Western Interests. They hosted events and published pamphlets throughout the Middle East about the difference between Zionism & Judaism. They warned that Zionism is dangerous to Arab Jews, forcing them to split their Arab and Jewish identities, and urged the UN to create a unified Palestinian state.
Image 5: The panel is titled, "Anti-Zionist Jewish figures." A faded image of Hannah Arendt's visage is in the background. Overlayed on top, the following paragraphs discuss her. "Before 1948, several prominent Jewish leaders and scholars came out in opposition to political Zionism. Writers like Hannah Arendt turned against the Zionist movement and opposed a Jewish state. They correctly predicted a dark future if Zionism continued on the same path in Palestine. End ID.
Image 6: The day after the Deir Yassin Massacre in 1948, when Zionist militants wiped out the Deir Yassin village & its inhabitants, Albert Einstein wrote: "When a real and final catastrophe should befall us in Palestine the first responsible for it would be the British and the second responsible for it the Terrorist organizations built up from our own ranks. I am not willing to see anybody associated with those misled and criminal people." The former paragraphs are imposed against a tan, parchment fragment, in typewriter font, and the letter ends with Sincerely yourn, Albert Einstein, both his signature and typed name. End ID.
Image 7: Titled "Anti Zionism Today." Blue sketchy image of someone's hand gripping jail bars breaks up the following paragraphs which say: Jewish solidarity with Palestinians is growing around the world, including even some Israelis who take the basic step of refusing Israeli military service. As punishment, Israel imprisons these conscientious objectors — but unlike Palestininas, they have a fair trial & often severe relatively short sentences of a few months . This is a first step towards solidarity and has the real consequence of depriving the occupation state of its soldiers. End ID.
Image 8: Titled "Israel's Crackdown on Jewish Anti-Zionism" Behind this text are a picture of handcuffs. In the corner is a picture of Jonathan Pollak. The following text says: Jonathan Pollak is a Jewish Israeli and long-time anti-Zionist activist. Israel has detained him several times, most recetly in January as he protested with Palestinians in Beita, (a Palestinian village) for allegedly throwing stones. Jonathan has been violently attacked for his activism. In 2018, Jonathan was slashed across the face by settlers who ambushed him outside his workplace. Earlier, in 2005, Israeli soldiers shot a tear gas canister. directly at him, causing internal bleeding in his brain." End ID.
Image 9: Semi-transparent image of an umbrella behind the title text is "Jewish Anti-Zionism isn’t one ideology. It’s an umbrella movement that encapsulates multiple communities and beliefs towards decolonizing Palestine. Some motivations or Jewish anti-Zionism include: 1. Pursuing millenia of Jewish tradition as a diasporic community 2, Detachibng religious and cultural tradition from political nationalism. 3. Socialist visions of a Jewish Society. 4. Believing in the right to self-determination for Palestinians Standing up to Zionism is: 1. Standing up to apartheid and colonization. 2. Standing up for a liberated, equal, and just Palestine from the river to the sea.
Image 10: An ending quote, and call to action, by the Anti-Zionist League. It says: "Jewish Men! Jewish Women! Zionism wants to throw us into a dangerous & hopeless adventure. Zionism contributes to making Palestine uninhabitable. Zionism wants to isolate us from the Egyptian people. Zionism is the enemy of the Jewish people. Down with Zionism! Long live the brotherhood of Jews and Arabs!" --The Anti-Zionist League. End ID.

Starting out this week with some kvetching about stuff that doesn’t matter
Does it bother anyone else that some American public schools insist on using “winter break” instead of “Christmas break?” It’s a break that consistently lines up with Christmas and New Years- just own it. No one’s mad schools give off for Christmas; just don’t pretend you’re giving time off for a multicultural celebration of all winter holidays when you aren’t.
Also- “Happy Holidays” when used in a virtue-signally way (as opposed to meaning Happy New Year and Christmas). Because half the time Hanukkah and Dwali have like already passed or aren’t coming up for another entire month.
Similarly, what’s up with BCE/CE? BC/AD was honest and open about being a Christian system of dating. BCE/CE is still just as Christian, but it pretends to be universal. “Common Era” my ass.
Did anyone ask for these changes to be made? Or are culturally Christian Americans trying to fool themselves into thinking that American society is more secular than it is? … So they can gaslight us about it later
Feeling extra suspicious lately 🤨
#jumblr#kvetching#jewish positivity#because it’s lighthearted#listen no one’s dying actively in this post so it counts as positive okay#Jewish
